01:45 pm My air conditioner is broken, and of course this happens when it's 95 degrees outside. :P So, since I'm taking a break in front of a fan, here's a list of what I've done so far today: -returned a book to the library; also returned keys and flash drive that I should have given back yesterday (I forgot to return the cake server thing that I accidentally took home with the pan of brownies from last week--oops) -went to doctor's office and filled out a release form, so they can send my records to my doctor in St. Louis -went to bank; closed accounts and got money to pay the movers -dropped off non-perishables at the local food bank (I'm not moving any more boxes than I have to!) -realized air conditioner was broken; called landlady -washed dishes -made lunch -made iced tea -packed about half a dozen boxes -pulled all remaining boxes out of storage spaces For the rest of the day: -assemble said boxes -wait for repair man to come for the a/c -pack some more -go see Harry Potter with work people tonight (also: give the cake server to one of them to return to the kitchen) Current Mood: hot

11:04 pm - Busy Busy Busy Here is the happenings of my life: -Sunday was church and a surprise party for my new preacher's birthday (we had cake and ice cream after evening service) -Monday-Wednesday I went help a friend from church unpack boxes from moving about a year ago...she pays well, not that I wouldn't have helped her anyway, she is a nice person after all. -Thursday (today) worked 5-10 as the waitress and made $27 yay money! -Grandma still isn't doing well, she weighs somewhere around 105 now...that is less than me when I got out of the hospital. She has a doctors appointment next week. For the future: -Friday work 11-5 waitress (I hope lots of people get paid tomorrow and come in and leave good tips) -Saturday I am working for Katie 10-5 as the cook because her sister is having her baby that day. -Sunday I am working for someone (Katie is working for Brooke and I am working for Katie I think) 5-10 as the cook. -Monday and Tuesday I am working 5-10 as the waitress. Then I think I have about 2 days off and I work another 4 days straight Also, I was told tonight that I am the only waitress that interacts with the costumers besides asking them if they need anything. I was surprised, but maybe that is why I make better tips sometimes.

12:03 am - Yay, Otakon! Okay, just about packed. Which means all my cosplay stuff is in my suitcase and all my actual clothes are in my duffel bag. (Hey, Allen's boots take up a lot of the suitcase!) Those of you in my room whose numbers I have can expect text messages with my progress in getting there (hopefully, there will be no AMTRAK PHAIL like last year). Current Mood: geeky Tags: cons

07:42 pm Trudy's back from surgery and is doing better. She apparently had a piece of grass wedged under her gum waaay back at the joint of her jaw. It had gotten severely infected, and was not a pretty sight by the time the vets got to it. Now they've drained the wound and kicked up the antibiotics (and removed the grass that was causing the infection), so she should be fine. Mom says she's still kinda stoned, but she ate dinner, which was more than she had done for the past few days. Thanks for all the prayers and good vibes. Current Mood: relieved

05:43 pm - Yee Hah! So, just when I got my computer settled back into a comfortable routine, one of my hard drives kicked the bucket. Fortunately, my computer has a mirrored RAID array, and this is exactly the situation it's waiting for to actually be useful. So I bought a new hard drive, and I'm still running off the other one. 09:38 pm Trudy update: Vet thinks it's either a bad tooth or an abscess behind her eye (ew). Either way, they have to put her out so they can get x-rays and fix it. So they gave Mom some antibiotics and painkillers and told her to come back tomorrow morning. I'm hoping for the tooth, just because it's the less serious of the two. Will report tomorrow. In other news, I've packed up all my DVD's, so my walls are very bare. My neighbors are doing something upstairs that involves stomping around like a moose, and I've had pictures falling off the walls all night. After a 24x36" framed poster fell on my shoulder, I gave up and took everything else down, too. Also, my wrist hurts like a mother. I think I need a brownie. This will be browning #4 for today (one after lunch, one as a mid-afternoon snack, and, er, one after dinner), but I think I've earned it. Fortunately, I have tomorrow morning off, so I can at least sleep in. Current Mood: tired

07:04 pm Just got off the phone with Mom. Trudy's not doing so well. She had what we though was an eye infection last week, so Mom took her to the vet, and got an eye ointment to put in it. Then today Mom came home to find she had the other eye swollen shut. She's not eating, she's running a fever, and can hardly walk. As Mom was getting her in the car, she bumped her head against the side of the car and let out a huge yelp. To me, it sounds like she has a tooth infection (Polly had this once--it wasn't her eye that was swollen, but the flesh beneath it that connected to her upper gums). So if everyone could send some positive vibes her way, I'd appreciate it. Mom's at the vet right now, and she'll call me when she gets out with the verdict. Current Mood: scared

09:50 pm - Otakon Yay! With only a few days left to go until leaving for Otakon, I'm getting my stuff together. My Allen coat is missing the bottom button; hopefuly they'll be selling Black Order buttons somewhere at the con. I'm going to be wearing the Sancia costume consisting of stuff bought from a SERIOUS RENAISSANCE CLOTHING SUPPLIER for the first time; the skirt needs shortening becasue it's HUGE and LONG. (But the bodice and skirt are really impressive; they're authentic period fabrics, apparently.) And I'm also bringing pajamas for the Cosplay Pajama Party Friday night, a "casual" Allen set of clothes that will probably be my Sunday costume, and some normal things to wear for when I need to get out of cosplay. Oh, does anyone in my room group have a piece of gold ribbon I can steal? The amatomnes meetup is supposed to be Saturday at noon at the fountains (I was going to skip it, but someone I play with is going), and we're supposed to identify ourselves by putting red and gold ribbons on our badges.
